Members and friends enjoyed an evening of great food and libations at our Summer Evening Social at the Greek Joint. We collected a lot of rice for the Community Enhancement Collaborative (CEC) and the Executive Director was on hand to take it back to the organization. Thanks everyone. See you next month.

Easter basket assembly on April 3, 2017, by an awesome group of volunteers from the Hollywood Women’s Club for ChildNet, the state foster care agency. 112 baskets were delivered this week.

Cynthia Iorio Butler, Helene Toll and Shelly DeMarco volunteered at the Feeding South Florida meal packing event for the Boys and Girls Club. Who knew filling granola bags could be so much fun? There were hundreds of volunteers and a DJ playing really hot music! A good time was had by all. The best news is now thousands of families will have nourishing food for breakfast. Other volunteers were filling bags with fortified rice and beans for dinner meals. “A few hours well spent. I will definitely do it again,” said Shelly.

Our monthly Movie and a Pizza Night at Broward Women's and Children's Center was a fun night with a playful group of children, who enjoyed their cartoon character trinkets and played jump rope.

The Hollywood Women’s Club Fifth Annual Margaritas in Paradise was held on September 23, 2016, at the terrific Crowne Plaza Hotel. Despite rain forecasts it was a festive, fun event. Great food thanks to Gino’s Italian Market, GG’s Waterfront Restaurant, The Greek Joint, Anthony’s Runway 84, Shenanigan’s Eastside Pub and desserts from Georgio’s and baked by members. A fabulous silent auction and raffle of an amythyst necklace provided additional funds raised. Most danced to the music of Cliff Meyers and Wyld Fyre. This was the last of these events.

We were joined by members of the Ladies of the Lakes for the evening, while we held a fundraiser collecting perfume and costume jewelry! A great way to add to our treasury!!!!!!!!!

On Tuesday, August 4, 2015, we got together with our community and neighbors at Eppleman Park as a sponsor of this annual event along with the Hollywood Police Command Staff & Personnel, Police Officers, City Officials, Neighborhood Team Leaders, Mobile Patrol, Specialized Units Crime Prevention Specialists, Homeless Program Coordinator and Code Enforcement.

On Tuesday, July 21, 2015, the Hollywood Women’s Club members and students from South Broward High School joined to expand the Butterfly Gardens on the north and south sides of our historic clubhouse at 501 North 14th Avenue, Hollywood, Florida. Thanks to a grant obtained by the Brighter Futures Foundation and partially funded by the Community Foundation of Broward County, and the Broward Habitat Centennial Garden. On a hot, July, Saturday morning, 80 golfers arrived at the Fifth Annual Hollywood Women’s Club Golf Tournament. Bloody Marys and Mimosas were part of the continental breakfast while golfers registered and took to the putting green or greeting their team. And then they were off! With contests on specific holes, play was as fast as the temperature was rising. At the end of play, golfers and friends gathered at Shenanigan’s Eastside Pub for a fabulous brunch, raffle drawings and an exciting silent auction. It was a great day for the HWC, and we were able to raise over $8,500 net, not including the in-kind contributions of raffle and silent auction items. These funds will support our community service programs and the ongoing restoration of our 1927 historic Clubhouse. See you next year!

The Hollywood Women’s Club (HWC) 4th Annual ‘Margaritas in Paradise’ signature fundraising event tonight drew a crowd of over 200 Club members, community leaders and their guests to the lovely Northlake waterfront home of local orthodontist Rosie Angelakis. Carol Fitzgerald, President Elect, Chairwoman of the event said, “It has been a fabulous night in paradise for the thousands we support in our community.” While listening to live Caribbean music from the band Manhattan Harmony, guests enjoyed libations and wonderful food from area restaurants including Shenanigan’s East Side Pub, GG’s Waterfront Grill, Anthony’s Runway 84, Land Crab Lounge & Seafood Emporium, Rudy’s Pub & Restaurant, Gino’s Italian Market, Mundi’s Italian Restaurant, and M’s Sweets-N-Treats.

On Saturday, July 25, 2015, over 100 golfers played in the 4th Annual Hollywood Women’s Club Golf Tournament at
the Hollywood Beach Golf Resort. $8,000 was raised from sponsorships, player fees, special hole contests, 50/50 raffle and a terrific silent auction. Many thanks to all those who participated with special thanks to Tournament Chair Moon Sheridan and her terrific team of volunteers!

A special thanks to The Beauty of Wax for hosting the HWC Evening Group\'s Summer Social on Wednesday. July 8th, 2015 at their Hollywood location, Hollywood’s Beauty of Wax for over 15 years. The evening included beauty treatments, wine and hors d’oeuvres. The ladies of HWC enjoyed pampering, mini refreshing facials, chair massages, make up, scalp massage, foot massages, body sculpting treatments, jewelry, skin care lessons and of course, wine.
